GIVE LOVE
As my “Think Peace” collection features the peace sign, “Give Love,” part two of my three part
series, “Peace, Love and Happiness,” stars the iconic symbol of love, the
heart. My representations of the
heart are contemplations on the power of love.
With the emergence of President Elect Obama, a long awaited
and needed acceptance of a race, so long degraded because of the color of their
skin, can be visualized. Tears
shed around the world on November 4, 2008 were from people of all colors, races
and religions, symbolizing the dawn of a new era, a declaration that the often
repeated phrase, “love thy neighbor,” rings true in the hearts of all people.
Recognizing that our tears are all clear, our blood is all
red and all of our hearts desire nothing more than to love and be loved, can open
our hearts to the beauty of our colors and unite us all in the pursuit of man’s
humanity to man.
Our quest for love is timeless, as historians have found
evidence of the iconic heart’s existence predating the 4th century
BC. The image has been seen
on vases, paintings, frescos, floors, in museums, churches, on tombstones,
furniture and variety of other objects.
Evidence suggests that the heart has long been recognized as a symbol of
not only love, but also one of good luck, charity, faith, hope, health,
faithfulness and courage.
That this representation of love has continued to exist, despite chaos,
hard times and catastrophe, attests to the belief that Love is the strongest
force in our great universe.
Perhaps this is because, as human beings, it is one of our
most primal needs. Love is
tantamount to building a foundation of security and trust, and the ability to love
and be loved. Without it, we will
simply cease to exist.
Give Love!
